The centerpiece of Erin's downtown renewal is a vertical monument depicting an architectural remnant of the original county courthouse. The monument was designed in 2003 by Highers, Koonce & Associates (HKA) in association with Jerry Reynolds, Architect. The team commisioned SKS to develop an artistic rendering of the concept. The rendering was then posted for public viewing in the lobby of Erin City Hall.
In late 2003, the city of Erin and the local power distributor partnered with TVA to further promoted Erin's downtown renewal efforts, and
commissioned R.Dean Randalls, Architect, to build a 3D computer generated model of a renewed town sqaure, with the center monument by HKA, new architectural improvements designed to reflect the town motto "a bit of Ireland in Tennessee", and other features such as new lighting, all shown in a night environment. The model was incorproated into a presentation named "an Irish Village", a study of modern and historic Ireland with its unique architectural language, as well as modern and historic downtown Erin Tennessee.
The presentation was used to further support downtown renewal efforts and to obtain additional financing. After several years of hard work, the city was able to gain the financing required to procede. In 2009, final construction documents were completed, and by 2010, construction was well underway. See slideshow above.
As noted above, the following image was developed in 2003 by HKA for the City of Erin. The image is posted at low resolution. The original work is publicly posted in Erin City Hall at full resolution , and may be viewed in person during operating hours. The 3D Visioning Model developed in 2004 by R.Dean Randalls, Architect, is attached in Windows .wmv format, a video format requiring MicroSoft Media Player. Note that the video may not run in other players such as QuickTime without downloading plug-ins.

In 2008, the original design team, Highers, Koonce & Associates, was
aquired by Goodwyn Mills and Cawood (GMC). Today, GMC continues as the primary designer and construction adminstrator. For more information about GMC, visit:
